Par 4 | Handicap 13 | Plays 344 - 465 Yards
One of the most beautiful opening shots in golf. The “handshake” hole gives the player a generous landing zone off the tee. The downhill approach shot must be accurate to avoid the greenside bunkers guarding the front of the green.
Par 4 | 5 Handicap | Plays 326 - 421 Yards
The second hole at the Club at Balsam Mountain is a sharp dogleg right. The player will want to keep it in play off the tee to avoid the fairway bunkers guarding the right side. The approach shot in should be played to the center of the green to avoid a deep bunker guarding the front of the putting surface.
Par 3 | 17 Handicap | Plays 131 – 199 Yards
Gorgeous opening par 3. Club selection is key here as the hole plays significantly downhill.
Par 5 | 1 Handicap | Plays 376 – 485 Yards
The only par 5 on the front 9 is an excellent risk/reward hole. The yardage alone may lead a player to believe this is a “gettable” hole. Stay focused as the hole plays uphill and is well protected by streams, bunkers, ravines, and native fescues. Five is a good score on this hole.
Par 4 | 7 Handicap | Plays 272 – 396 Yards
Challenging tee and approach shots here force a player to be “all in” on this one. Offering some of the most beautiful vistas on the property, this long par 4 is generous off the tee and forces the player to hit over a ravine if going for the pin.
Par 4 | 9 Handicap | Plays 390 – 457 Yards
Beautiful vistas off the tee and a wide fairway await you when teeing off on 6. The approach shot plays severely downhill, better to be just short of the green here than long.
Par 3 | 15 Handicap | Plays 175 – 230 Yards
Downhill par 3 with panoramic views. A greenside left bunker is your only obstacle here.
Par 4 | 11 Handicap | Plays 325 – 432 Yards
This drive will give you the longest “flight time” on the course. The tee shot plays severely downhill to a triple terraced fairway. Be aggressive off this tee and you will only have a short iron into the green.
Par 4 | 3 Handicap | Plays 324 – 443 Yards
A great hole to go out on. A challenging par 4 that is tree-lined on both sides. Generous off the tee, the second shot will need to be hit well to hold this well protected green.
Par 3 | 18 Handicap | Plays 142 – 178 Yards
The easiest hole on the course demands a solid tee shot; Palmer's pond guards the front of this large and gently sloping green. Play it a half a club longer off the tee to be safe.
Par 4 | 10 Handicap | Plays 244 – 346 Yards
A creek and a few bunkers guard your landing area, making your tee shot a challenge. A ball that does find the “short stuff” is rewarded with a relatively short approach to a small green.
Par 5 | 4 Handicap | Plays 396 – 495 Yards
The first of two par 5s on the back 9. The hole plays uphill significantly. There is plenty of room off the tee; take your time and pick the right approach angle to this green.
Par 3 | 14 Handicap | Plays 179 – 248 Yards
The toughest par 3 on the course. The green is protected by a pond short and a bunker left. There is plenty of room to the right for a conservative target. Three is always a good score here.
Par 5 | 6 Handicap | Plays 490 – 565 Yards
We truly do have 18 signature holes here at Balsam Mountain....but this one might have the edge. Play a safe drive down the right side of the fairway. Your approach shot gives you what many believe to be the greatest view on the course.
Par 4 | 12 Handicap | Plays 295 – 372 Yards
Beautiful downhill, dogleg left par 4. Plenty of room down the right side here. The green is guarded by a ravine and bunker left.
Par 4 | 2 Handicap | Plays 310 – 479 Yards
Toughest hole on the planet. The tee shot perches you up on top of the world and has you drive down into a generous fairway. The hole gets progressively narrower from here. Four is a great score.
Par 4 | 8 Handicap | Plays 310 – 400 Yards
Another great downhill dogleg left par 4. Bunkers guard the dogleg and there is plenty of room on the right. A smaller green requires a well-hit golf shot.
